'New name and identity for Europe's largest trades union' Unite the Union The merger of Amicus with the Transport and General Workers Union creating Europe's largest union - a 'union for life'. We were asked to create a new naming and identity for the union: a name that reflected its ambition to be a 'union for life' and carried real meaning for its members. After extensive research we completed development of the name 'Unite'. This was launched along with a new visual identity - in May 2007 - to widespread acclaim.
